Hey guys, thanks for pickin' me! Look for the axolotl hoop, the very first in the alphabet animals series, available in my shop soon. And don't forget to watch this space for B animal voting, which I think will be a huge challenge, as there are a lot of really fuzzy and cute B animals. A note on "other" selections: One suggestion was Apteryx, which is the scientific name for the kiwi. The kiwi is already on my list for K, so look for it in a bit if you're a kiwi fan. By G.D. Rowley [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons Another suggestion was the Auk, a seabird similar to penguins but not actually related. no illustrator listed, publisher was WM. Crosby & H.P. Nichols of Boston [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons There are so many awesome birds out there, I've considered doing a secondary alphabet series of birds only. I'm not averse to doing some birds this round, though. Finally, I'm a little upset that I forgot the Alpaca, one of my favorite animals. The llama will be in the running for L, though, so there's that to look forward to. The voting is going along strong, and two animals are fighting out the lead! The axolotl and the armadillo are the heavy favorites, every time I check the rating is a little different. To help you make your decision, I drew up some sketches of the two creatures.
Go to the blog entry below to vote, voting will close at 5pm Est. tomorrow. Will it be the axolotl, the armadillo, or will another A animal jump ahead? I'm embarking on a new project! I want to embroider a set of hoops for each animal of the alphabet. I'm thinking 4" hoops with a cute simple version of each animal (my usual style) along with its corresponding letter. I think these would be great for monograms, a baby's name for a nursery, or even a whole set for the very adventurous. This hedgehog hoop gives you an example of my general style: Where do you come in? I love animals and I just can't decide which one to stitch for each letter! So help me out by using the poll below. I've also included some images of each animal below to help you make your decision. Rest assured, I'll draw up the cutest version of each critter that I can muster. Got another idea? I've even included a blank space for you to suggest your own A animal. So cast your vote and help me get this fun project started! It seems I've been stitching up broccoli and carrots like mad lately. I must say that I'm somewhat surprised to find this veggie journal to be amongst my top new items. I made the original for myself for my own diet-tracking needs, but you never know if your own tastes will translate. I'm glad to find others share my love of whimsical veggie goodness. Also tomatoes aren't vegetables, and that bothers me every time, but I like the look of the tomato anyway.
If you're feeling particularly nerdy about tomatoes today, here's a fun little wikipedia blurb about the tomato's status as a fruit or vegetable or berry or whatever. |
